Idea
Moving is in every direction. This is the name of an exhibition on installation art since the 1960s, presented in 2017 at the Hamburger Bahnhof, museum of contemporary art located in Berlin.
Moving. The change of location: movement, mobility. The change of state: emotion. "Moving is in all direction". We could also say "in all aspects".
Why "ecstatic"? It usually refers to mystical ecstasy. The project begins with Azuleros (Mozaics) and Pillars: two photos taken in places of worship, respectively in Lisbon and Jerusalem.
In Greek, ekstatikos means "who misplaces the mind, who has the mind lost, who is out of himself "*. "Ecstatic" refers to a person in a second state, projected out of himself, transported out of his senses. (*Ref.: Historical dictionary of the French language).
As for statikos: static is immobility, balance, what "remains in the same state". "Ecstatic" is therefore a project on movement, aspects and senses: direction, feeling, meaning. Are we who we are in the movement? Moving, surpassing oneself, self-realization?
Goals
-
Reflect on the movement, try to enhance it through blurred parts
-
Propose a reflection on mobility & immobility
-
Compare the notions of placement, displacement and surpassing (of oneself)
-
Valuing an energy of the moment
-
Dynamize the static, capture the dynamic
Isn't that what photography is all about? Capturing the moment, freezing the movement?
Note
Each photo was taken independently of the project. The pictures presented are the originals. Only the contrasts and brightness have been adjusted to optimize the printing experience.
